Hi,

I’m new to the forum and would like to ask my first question.

But before I do, a bit of background. We have an old Faktum kitchen that has served us for many years and has been modified several times. Since the old Nexus fronts are no longer available, we decided to completely redo the kitchen.

We looked at many options and ended up back at IKEA.

If only it weren’t for that annoying 20cm (8 inch) modular system...

Now I came across the 45cm (18 inch) front panel (802.915.52) and thought I could build a cabinet around it (or customize one). (The previous plan was to plan for 25cm (10 inch) cabinets based on the corner cabinet doors.)

But on IKEA’s site, the dimensions are listed as:
Width: 45 cm (18 inch)
Height: 2 cm (0.8 inch)
Length: 90 cm (35 inch)

Aren’t the base cabinets usually 80 cm (31.5 inch) high? Is that just the packaging size, not the front panel size?

Is this actually a self-service item or a stocked item? (If self-service, I could stop by briefly and measure it myself).

Regards, kai

Hello,
these are the packaging dimensions. The front is, of course, 80 cm (31.5 inches) high. If no shelf or compartment is specified in the availability check below, it will be handled through the goods issue area.

Thanks, that brings us closer to our kitchen – now we have 25cm (10 inches) and 45cm (18 inches) options.

By the way, you can quite easily narrow a Maximera drawer using the Blum back panel holders (e.g., Z30B000SL). This also avoids having to drill cup holes in the front panel.

Edit: Unfortunately, this statement was incorrect. What was still possible with Blum's RATIONELL drawers is no longer feasible with MAXIMERA.

Thanks for the note about the back panel bracket.

Unfortunately, with the Bodbyn fronts, I can’t install a drawer vertically (I had already considered this) because the profile would then be rotated 90°.

How should a drawer installed vertically even hold, and what would you do with a drawer mounted like that?
