Good morning everyone, some time ago I purchased several IKEA Platsa furniture units and am now looking for a suitable cleaning method that not only cleans the surfaces thoroughly but also provides long-term protection. The furniture is made from a combination of engineered wood and coated surfaces. My question is: How do I clean IKEA PLATSA furniture properly and gently to avoid the surfaces becoming dull or damaged? Are there any special cleaning products or home remedies that are particularly suitable, and which cleaning practices should I avoid to prevent scratches or peeling? I look forward to your experiences and tips.

I would recommend cleaning the furniture with a slightly damp microfiber cloth and a mild dish soap. That sounds reasonable. What about mechanical stress? Should you apply light pressure when wiping, or is it better to gently go over the surfaces to avoid damaging the coating? Also, I would like to know if IKEA itself offers an official recommendation for cleaning the PLATSA system.
I find it interesting that many users rely on home remedies like vinegar. However, vinegar contains acids that, even when diluted, can damage the coating over time. From my perspective, this is a risky practice. It is better to use pH-neutral cleaning products to protect the surface of PLATSA furniture in the long term. Does anyone here have specific experience with pH-neutral cleaners for IKEA furniture?
