JalepaHello everyone, I am currently considering which of the Ikea PAX wardrobe doors are particularly easy to maintain. It is important to me that they can be cleaned easily, do not scratch quickly, and require little effort in daily use, for example with fingerprints or dust. I am thinking about choosing a combination of sliding doors and hinged doors, but I am unsure if the surface texture makes a big difference here. Do any of you have experience with which materials and finishes on the PAX doors are best for long-term care? Best regards and thanks in advance!

Therefore, doors with smooth melamine surfaces are often easier to maintain because they are quite durable and can be quickly wiped clean with a damp cloth. Models with white or light-colored finishes are especially recommended, as they show stains less noticeably. Mirror glass doors and high-gloss fronts look stylish but require more frequent cleaning and are more prone to smudges. For sliding doors, the maintenance effort is similar; here, the mechanism plays a more important role in long-term comfort.

Dark tones show dust and fingerprints more quickly, even if the surface is easy to maintain. A white or light melamine-coated surface is often the most practical.
- Melamine-coated doors are durable, scratch-resistant, and easy to wipe clean.
- Doors with painted finishes require a bit more care and may develop small scratches over time.
- Mirror and glass fronts look modern but demand more maintenance.
When it comes to sliding doors, the track carrier is not very relevant for cleaning, but mechanically, occasional lubrication is recommended to ensure smooth opening and closing. For easy surface maintenance, melamine-coated doors are my clear recommendation.
