holger9Hello everyone, I am specifically looking for ways to optimize space usage in my small apartment using the IKEA BESTÅ system. I am interested not only in storage but also in multifunctionality and aesthetic aspects. I want to find out how to best combine the modules to accommodate books, media devices, and decorations without making the room feel cluttered or less cozy. Additionally, I would appreciate any tips on effectively using different sizes and on the placement of doors or drawers in such a tight space. It would be great if you could share your experiences or practical advice!

And don’t be afraid of colors and doors: a colorful mix can open up the space and shouldn’t feel overwhelming. The important thing is to create variation and not do everything in the same style.
Thanks for the previous suggestions! @Luchen: I’m considering placing lower cabinets under the window to make the room feel larger, but I’m unsure if that would be practical for everyday use.
@pautanner: I find the idea of a room divider interesting, but my apartment is only just under 18 square meters (194 square feet), so I want to keep everything as open as possible. Are there any experiences on how to manage this cleverly with BESTÅ without restricting movement too much?

This way, you get great storage while keeping plenty of room to move around. Combining closed modules at the bottom with open shelves on top creates a light and less bulky appearance. Also, consider adding casters underneath if you want it to be mobile! 🎈
