Hello everyone, I’m planning to get a new IKEA Pax wardrobe and I’m especially interested in the models that are considered popular within this community. I’m mainly curious about which versions (e.g., width, height, wardrobe system configurations) have proven to be particularly practical and durable. Which Pax wardrobes do you prefer for their flexibility (such as interior organization, door types, or assembly options) as well as their appearance? Are there any specific combinations you would recommend – maybe based on experience with frequent use or particular living situations? I’m looking forward to your detailed opinions and recommendations, including any advice on possible weaknesses or less optimal variations.

Interesting topic, thanks for starting this! 😃 For PAX, I usually go with the classic 100x58x236 cm (width x depth x height) model. It’s a versatile option that fits into most corners while still offering plenty of storage space. Inside, I like the combination of drawers and clothes rails because it lets me organize my clothes neatly and flexibly. I find the sliding doors really practical since they don’t need space to swing open, which is perfect for small rooms. Sure, assembling it can be a bit annoying sometimes, but I guess that’s part of the IKEA experience 😉. For the look, I prefer the white doors—they look clean and fit almost anywhere. What do you all think?

Regarding the question of the most popular IKEA PAX wardrobes, it can be said that modules with a standard height of 236 cm (93 inches) and a width of 100 cm (39 inches) have become the most common. The depth ranges from 35 cm (14 inches) to 58 cm (23 inches), chosen depending on the intended use: 35 cm (14 inches) for shoe or bookshelf-only solutions, and 58 cm (23 inches) for full wardrobe setups. Models with sliding doors have proven popular in private homes to save space, while hinged doors are preferred in larger rooms. The flexibility of the interior fittings—such as drawers, shelves, hanging rails, and special inserts like trouser racks—is a clear advantage. Weak points include the complex assembly instructions and occasional fitting inaccuracies with the doors. Combinations that optimize space usage with modular, expandable elements are recommended.

I would like to add that PAX wardrobes with glass or mirrored doors are especially popular in smaller rooms. They reflect light and create the impression of more space – a benefit that is often underestimated. In addition, the internal organizers with drawers and central dividers are very popular. They allow clothes to be sorted by category, making it much easier to find items.

That is absolutely correct; sliding doors are a real space saver in small rooms. I would also pay attention to whether the space is used freestanding or if there is a wall restriction, as this influences the choice of doors.

100 x 58 x 236 cm (39 x 23 x 93 inches) with sliding doors + interior fittings consisting of a mix of drawers and rails. Sturdy and versatile.

That's true, I spruced up my bedroom with a mirrored PAX – it not only makes the room look much bigger, but I also get a quick overview when getting dressed in the morning. 😎

Another tip: If you have children, it's important to plan the shelves and internal layout carefully, as they can quickly become overcrowded. For me, the PAX interior system with display cabinet elements worked really well in the bedroom because it helps me keep things organized quickly.
