Hello everyone,

a quick question for those of you who have already completed building your house. Was there a moment when you thought, "Oh no, what did we actually choose here? This doesn’t look at all like we imagined it would?"

We are currently having some doubts about the tiles in the hallway. Maybe that will change after the painter has finished and the furniture, especially the staircase, is in place.

How was it for you?

Best regards
Herr Stein

I’m not putting curtains in my house anyway...

This is more or less how I imagine it:

That’s exactly the way to do it, it looks great, especially since you like it and that’s what matters. White window frames wouldn’t look good here because of the white wall paint, which wouldn’t match perfectly. The picture looks stylish. Don’t let yourself be unsettled—you obviously have good taste, your own!

We have the windows made of plastic in anthracite color (matte finish) and I am very impressed.
Super stylish, and as you can see here, it usually comes down to the overall color scheme. Great.

May I ask what the dimensions of the stair landing window are? I always find it hard to estimate.

Width 138.5cm (55 inches) and height 175cm (69 inches)

Hmm, I see it differently.
But that’s how tastes are, luckily

What do you see differently? I would love to arrange it that way too. But our living room is only 4.3 meters (14 feet) wide, and right now our sofa is against the wall. I think the distance to the TV should not be any less if you also want a spacious coffee table and still keep a clear walkway. Anything else would feel cramped. If I wanted to pull the sofa about 1 meter (3 feet) away from the floor-to-ceiling window, I would need at least 5.3 meters (17 feet) of width. And that’s something very few floor plans I’ve seen actually offer—at least the overall floor area would have to be larger if you don’t want to compromise on anything else.

Very few floor plans I’ve seen so far have that, and the overall area grows significantly if you don’t want to give up space elsewhere.

I’m not planning to place the furniture like in the photo... I want the windows like in the photo. The flooring is similar to ours, so I used that example to show how I imagine it.

Ah, I see! But a room obviously needs furniture, and even the best window won’t help if you end up blocking it with furniture, right?
