Hello everyone,
a quick question for those of you who have already completed building your house. Was there a moment when you thought, "Oh no, what did we actually choose here? This doesn’t look at all like we imagined it would?"
We are currently having some doubts about the tiles in the hallway. Maybe that will change after the painter has finished and the furniture, especially the staircase, is in place.
How was it for you?
Best regards
Herr Stein

Is there anywhere I can find your complete floor plan?
I would be really interested in seeing it...
Thanks

Very stylish! I like contrasts. When we built our house 7 years ago, natural stone veneer strips were used. We have those too. The same “color” as your tiles. Large panels, of course, have a much more elegant appearance. However, I would be worried that they might come loose on their own.

Thanks I haven’t shared the full floor plan here. From my photos, one might think it’s extraordinary, but it’s actually quite standard (just a bit larger, with a total living area of 200 sqm (2,150 sq ft)).
From the beginning, we accounted for the costs of what I’d call highlights: fireplace, fully tiled bathroom and guest toilet, railings, and of course the fittings, which also include a lot of expensive decoration.
My wife and I prefer to focus on quality, which often comes at a price. This ranges from the bricks to the interior paint.
I have friends who built larger houses than ours but had to do a lot of the work themselves due to budget constraints—flooring, painting, plastering, etc. And honestly, you can tell!
Furthermore, their fittings and furnishings don’t match the house at all. You immediately get the impression of “trying but failing.”
I’d rather build smaller and have high-quality fittings than the other way around.
In my opinion, the comfort and wow factor mostly depend on that, and only to a limited extent on the size of the rooms.
