Hello everyone, I am currently working on a project to securely and permanently mount an Ikea Besta shelving unit to my wall. My question is: which wall anchors and screws provide a lasting hold when installing Ikea Besta, especially on different wall types (e.g., concrete, drywall, brick)? I would like to know which combinations are truly recommended because it is important to me that both the weight of the unit and potential stresses from occasional repositioning or light impacts are reliably supported over time. Additionally, I am interested in any specific considerations regarding drill hole size, anchor type, or screw types that can ensure long-term stability in practice. I look forward to your opinions and experiences!
I understand that durability is a very important issue for you when it comes to fastening the Besta. I personally had major problems before because I didn’t use the right anchors, and eventually the shelf started to wobble dangerously.
It might help to first identify exactly what type of wall you have. Sometimes combinations make sense as well: for example, heavy-duty anchors for concrete together with metal anchors, or cavity anchors for drywall.
If possible, you should also consider fixing the Besta at multiple points to better distribute the load. This was what relieved my biggest concern personally.
I hope you find the perfect solution for a secure installation!

My advice: For a long-lasting fix, always prioritize the quality of the anchors and screws, and for heavy loads, opt for larger sizes.

Also make sure the shelf is well positioned and aligned before fastening it to avoid adjustments later on.Super important! Once something is mounted on the wall, you really don’t want to have to mess with it again.
And another thing: Sleeve anchors are often more expensive, but if you want the shelf to be securely attached to the wall for a long time, they are definitely worth the investment. So don’t skimp—invest in a secure fixing! That way, you’ll have peace of mind for years 😊
