Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of an IKEA Platsa system and want to prepare as thoroughly as possible. It would be great if you could briefly tell me which tools are really necessary for the assembly. I’m not only referring to the standard tools but also any helpful specialized tools that could make the assembly easier or deliver more professional results. I have already reviewed the instructions, but they usually only mention simple tools. So, is there anything you should definitely have on hand when assembling PLATSA, maybe beyond just screwdrivers? Looking forward to your experiences!

If you ask me, besides a screwdriver and hammer, a tape measure or folding rule shouldn’t be missing. Nothing is more frustrating than when a part suddenly doesn’t fit because of incorrect measurements! 😅

Additionally, edge protectors or masking tape can be helpful to protect surfaces from bumps. This keeps everything nice and scratch-free. And hey, a bit of patience and good music during assembly are also real tools – they make the process much more enjoyable!

Besides a hammer, Phillips screwdriver, and cordless drill, a small Allen key might also be useful. Such screws often come with flat-pack furniture, and having small screwdrivers on hand is always practical. Otherwise, you won’t need any special tools.

If you have a cordless drill, definitely use it! It makes assembly faster and less tiring.

This has also proven to be very effective for me. Battery in, screws in, done. Saves a lot of time and stress. A hammer for driving in anchors or nails, and you’re good to go.
