Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of an IKEA Platsa system and want to prepare as thoroughly as possible. It would be great if you could briefly tell me which tools are really necessary for the assembly. I’m not only referring to the standard tools but also any helpful specialized tools that could make the assembly easier or deliver more professional results. I have already reviewed the instructions, but they usually only mention simple tools. So, is there anything you should definitely have on hand when assembling PLATSA, maybe beyond just screwdrivers? Looking forward to your experiences!
Oh, I love the PLATSA series! For assembly, you definitely need a good Phillips screwdriver, preferably with an ergonomic handle, because tightening requires some force. Don’t forget a hammer – for inserting the anchors or nails that sometimes come included. If you have a cordless drill, be sure to use it! It makes assembly faster and less tiring. A spirit level is also very helpful – it lets you see immediately if everything is aligned straight, which makes the final result look much more professional. Good luck with the assembly!
Yeah, PLATSA is fun and really flexible! 😄 I definitely recommend having a rubber mallet on hand to protect the surfaces when assembling the parts. And if you prefer a more relaxed approach, a small pair of pliers or nippers can help when inserting metal connectors. If you already have laminate or similar flooring, placing a coaster or pad under the furniture will protect the floor during alignment. Keep your tools ready, and nothing can go wrong!

For IKEA PLATSA, usually just a Phillips screwdriver and a hammer are enough. Thanks, that sounds quite specific already.

A spirit level is also very helpful – it lets you see right away if everything is level, which looks much more professional in the end! That makes sense, I hadn’t really thought of that. Is there a practical version you’d recommend for assembly? For example, a small electronic level, or is a simple analog one sufficient?
Small electronic spirit levels are really a dream! 😊 They even show you the tiniest deviations, which is super practical when you want to mount the PLATSA elements on the wall. But don’t worry, a simple small spirit level is usually enough for most cases. It’s more important to maybe have a helper who can assist with leveling—then it works smoothly. And of course, bring a good mood while assembling; that makes it twice as fun! 😉
