I am planning to assemble an Ikea Platsa system and would like to know from you: Which tools are absolutely necessary to complete the assembly successfully and without unnecessary complications? I would appreciate hearing about your experiences regarding which tools are essential, which are optional, and whether there are any helpful tools not included in the Ikea assembly kit that noticeably simplify the process. I am especially interested in whether a standard cordless drill is sufficient or if any specialized tools are recommended.

For assembling Ikea PLATSA, you mainly need a Phillips screwdriver and ideally a cordless drill with adjustable torque. A hammer is optional if you need to install wall anchors. Everything else, like a spirit level or tape measure, is helpful but not absolutely necessary.

I particularly recommend the following tools for assembling Ikea PLATSA: - Phillips screwdriver (PH2), as almost all screws require this - Cordless drill/driver with adjustable torque to avoid over-tightening - Rubber or lightweight hammer for dowels and minor adjustments - Spirit level to align the cabinets precisely - Folding ruler or tape measure to check correct heights and distances

A drill is generally not necessary unless you need to secure screws into the wall. Often, the included Allen key is sufficient for small parts. However, working with a good Phillips screwdriver is usually more comfortable and faster than using the small Ikea tool.

That’s exactly right! I was doubtful at first as well, but the cordless screwdriver with a simple PH2 bit really helped me a lot. Assembling PLATSA goes really quickly when you have the right tools!

Don’t forget a spirit level, it will save you frustration later if the fronts don’t line up. I can only encourage you: get those screws in and get started – it works great!

I think this is an important question – practical tips on how to make the assembly process stress-free are often missing. At first, I was quite unsure and only had the small Ikea Allen key. It worked, but it was tedious and took a lot of time.

Now I would definitely recommend a good Phillips screwdriver or a suitable bit for a cordless drill. Also, a tape measure to ensure everything is properly aligned. And very important: patience! Once you have the right tools, the rest is mostly just detailed work.

If you have to mount the unit to the wall, a wall plug set may be necessary depending on the wall type.
