timonglaHello everyone,
I am currently planning a new wardrobe system and considering buying an Ikea Pax wardrobe. I am particularly interested in the question: Which Ikea Pax wardrobe types are especially space-saving when you want to maximize storage capacity in smaller or narrow rooms using as little floor space as possible?
I imagine that, for example, narrow models or those with multiple levels could be advantageous, but I am unsure which options offer the best combination of space efficiency and capacity. Maybe there are door types, interior fittings, or specific module types that are especially helpful in this regard?
I am really looking forward to your experiences and opinions on this topic!

I would add that besides the width, the depth is also crucial. Ikea offers PAX wardrobes with a depth of 35 cm (14 inches), which makes them considerably less space-consuming. Especially in tight spaces, a 35 cm (14 inch) wardrobe can be a practical alternative. Combined with sliding doors, this also saves depth when opening.
I think it’s great that space-saving options are being discussed here, especially since this is often a frustrating issue in small apartments. For me, it was important that the wardrobe still offers enough storage for clothes without making the room feel cramped.
In the end, I chose the 50cm (20 inches) wide and 35cm (14 inches) deep PAX with sliding doors. I arranged the interior flexibly with baskets and small hanging rails. This really makes it feel much airier.
However, it’s also important to keep in mind that with very narrow options, long coats might not fit.

Use the one with sliding doors so you don’t need extra space for opening. In my experience, this is essential, especially if the wardrobe is going to be placed in a narrow hallway.
