I am currently looking into purchasing an Ikea PAX wardrobe system for our family and would like to know which PAX variants are especially popular with families. I am particularly interested in solutions that not only provide storage space but are also practical for daily family life—such as options that work well for parents’ and children’s clothing, possibly with special compartments for kids’ items or available extensions for more flexibility over time.
I am thinking about dimensions, interior fittings like drawers, clothes rails, or shelves, as well as whether doors are recommended or if open versions are better—also considering dust protection and ease of overview. Maybe you have experience with certain combinations that have proven particularly suitable for families in everyday use.

For me, one thing is clear: Pax essentially grows with the family. If you buy a basic frame with clothes rails and shelves today, you can easily add drawers or extra shelves later on.
I also find it really convenient that with PAX, almost all components can be replaced individually. Especially children might first need small compartments, and later more storage space for larger items.
For me, the wire baskets are a great addition – they are visible, easily accessible, and also look nice.
