Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to purchase an Ikea Pax wardrobe and want to make sure that the drawers come with a soft-close feature. My specific question is: Which Ikea Pax models come with soft-close drawers as standard, or which models have this feature built in by default?

I would greatly appreciate a list or any tips on how to identify this when buying, as it is not always clearly stated in the Ikea online shop or product descriptions. I am also interested to know if soft-close can be ordered separately and retrofitted.

Thank you very much for your expertise!

In this case, focusing on the "Maximera" drawers makes sense.

These are available from Ikea as a soft-close option and are commonly used for Pax wardrobes.

- MAXIMERA drawers come with damped full-extension slides.
- They are available both as direct replacements and for new Pax wardrobes.
- When configuring in the Ikea online shop, you can specifically search for "soft-close" when selecting the MAXIMERA drawers.

Therefore, I recommend ordering the MAXIMERA drawers with soft-close when setting up the Pax system to avoid needing any retrofitting.

MAXIMERA = Soft-close.

Most other drawers usually do not have this feature.

Retrofit is possible, but probably not relevant for you.

For those who want detailed information, here is a brief overview of Ikea Pax drawers and soft-close features:

1. MAXIMERA drawers
- Come with soft-close dampers
- Full extension
- Soft-close is standard

2. SAMLA drawers (plastic bins)
- No soft-close, simple sliding motion

3. VOXTORP drawers
- Soft-close optional
- Usually higher-quality fronts that support soft-close

Additional info:
- Retrofitting soft-close dampers is easiest with MAXIMERA drawers
- For other drawers, retrofitting can be difficult or not possible

Tip: When choosing an Ikea Pax wardrobe, be sure to check which drawer system and drawer type are included if soft-close is desired.

Soft-close for Ikea Pax: MAXIMERA full-extension drawers are the solution. Everything else generally does not have soft-close. Retrofitting is possible but requires significant effort.

Retrofit is possible, but probably not interesting for you.

I can only agree with that. Maximeras are more comfortable, more stable, and offer the convenience of soft-close technology. When planning the Pax system, be sure to choose these drawers.

One last tip: In the Ikea online shop, you can find the soft-close details in the product information of the drawers under "Features." It explicitly states if soft-close is included. When configuring the Pax system, make sure to choose replacement parts or interior fittings with soft-close, since the basic cabinet frame does not have any damping.
