Hello everyone,
I am currently planning the renovation of my walk-in closet and would like to use the Ikea PAX system for this. I have come across different models and am wondering which PAX variants are best suited for walk-in closets.
My requirements are:
- Stability for wide units
- Flexibility in interior fittings (drawers, clothing rods, shelves)
- As tall modules as possible to maximize storage space
I am also interested in any specific recommendations regarding PAX doors that are more practical for a walk-in closet – for example, sliding doors vs. hinged doors, or options with mirrors.
I look forward to your experiences and advice to help me make the right choice.

Practical tip: For walk-in wardrobes, PAX units with a depth of 58 cm (23 inches) and a height of 236 cm (93 inches) work best.
Sliding doors are suitable when there is limited floor space. Mirror doors can visually enlarge the room through reflection.
Make sure to have a secure wall mounting, especially for wider units.
