Hello everyone, I’m currently assembling my new IKEA Hemnes wardrobe and unfortunately noticed that some parts are missing—specifically several screws and a few wooden dowels. My question is: what is the best way to quickly and reliably get missing Hemnes replacement parts in this situation? Are there any special procedures at IKEA or helpful tips to avoid unnecessary delays during assembly? I’m not interested in spending hours at the service center or making countless phone calls. Thanks for your experiences and advice!

It is best to contact IKEA customer service directly, either by phone or online through their spare parts service. They usually have the parts in stock and will send them free of charge. It is important to provide the exact item number of the furniture and specify the missing parts precisely.

I completely understand, that can be really frustrating. What helped me was staying calm and carefully documenting exactly what was missing. Usually, IKEA responds quite quickly if you remain polite. If you want, I can share how my exchange with customer service went.

As an addition: IKEA offers a special spare parts service where you can specifically request missing parts through their website. It is important to provide the exact product name (e.g., Hemnes 2-door) and the specific part names from the assembly instructions.

In my experience, shipping usually took about one week. If the local IKEA store does not have the parts in stock, it is also possible to pick up spare parts directly at the store. Sometimes a visit in person is worthwhile, as it can reduce the waiting time.

Oh no, missing screws and anchors during furniture assembly are definitely a real buzzkill! 😄 But don’t stress. The best thing is to contact IKEA directly first, as mentioned before. If you have a few leftover screws from other furniture, maybe use those as a temporary replacement! 😉 Otherwise, their spare parts service is really fast, so you can put your patience to the test. 🎭

And if you decide to go for the spare parts option, it’s better to describe everything precisely rather than vaguely—that will save you from follow-up questions!

An additional tip: When you contact IKEA customer service by phone, it is best to have the article number of the missing parts from the manual ready. Some parts are numbered, which makes it easier for the service team to identify them. This way, you will receive the correct replacement parts without any mix-ups.
