Hello everyone, I am currently looking into furniture quality more closely and have a specific question: What problems tend to occur with Ikea Hemnes desks when used over a longer period of time? I am especially interested in aspects such as material quality, everyday stability, structural weaknesses, issues with the surface, or any difficulties during assembly. Experiences with the different versions of the Hemnes desk are also very welcome. The goal is to get a well-informed assessment of durability and practical usability. Thanks in advance for your help!

That’s interesting, did you notice this in connection with heavy use or more as a general quality issue? Most cases actually occur due to everyday use rather than heavy stress. The simple mechanism of plastic drawer slides is not designed for long-term durability. The material wears down over time, resulting in looseness and squeaking noises.

In summary, the following aspects appear to be particularly critical:
- Sensitivity of the surface to moisture and mechanical impact
- Plastic drawer runners showing signs of wear
- Instability or looseness in the table legs due to assembly or uneven floors
I am especially interested to know if the community is aware of durable solutions, such as replacement parts or additional reinforcements.

To extend the lifespan, I recommend:
- For the drawers: replacing the original plastic runners with metal runners, if available.
- For the surface: regular care with wood oil and avoiding prolonged liquid puddles.
- For the table legs: assembly using dowel glue and washers to increase stability.
These measures can significantly improve durability.
