Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install an Ikea Pax wardrobe in a room with a sloped ceiling. Since I want to focus not only on the appearance but also on the functionality and stability, I would like to know: What should I definitely keep in mind when assembling an Ikea Pax wardrobe in rooms with sloped ceilings? Specifically, I am interested in how to properly adapt the wardrobe to the angled wall, tips for installation under sloped ceilings, and which special parts or modifications might be necessary to ensure a neat and sturdy fit. Are there common pitfalls I should avoid right from the start? I look forward to your tips and experiences!

How can I adjust doors to fit a slope when the slope is inside the cabinet structure?

This is one of the more challenging areas. Standard doors are rectangular and usually don’t fit perfectly when the slope is part of the door opening.

- You can shorten doors above the slope to achieve a proper fit.
- Alternatively, sliding doors are a good option since they interfere less and don’t require a fixed stop on the sloped wall.
- Sometimes it also makes sense to design one side with open shelves or drawers if the slope is too steep.

Important: The doors still need to be properly aligned in height to maintain both functionality and appearance.

Sliding doors are really perfect for sloped ceilings because you can easily adjust their height flexibly. Cutting standard doors to fit the slope can quickly lead to a messy result. It’s better to use a sliding system and adjust it, which works very well for me.

Also important: Make sure to always secure the cabinets to the wall. This is especially crucial with sloped ceilings, as cabinets can otherwise tip over or become unstable. It’s best to use the included wall anchors from Ikea, as they are strong enough.

A quick tip: When installing, be sure to carefully adjust the Pax fronts to ensure the doors close perfectly despite the angled surfaces!

That’s a great tip, thanks! Are there any special tricks for adjusting cabinet doors when they aren’t hanging “normally” because the carcass is angled? What is the best order to adjust the doors, especially when the side panels are slanted?
