ᐅ How can I install IKEA Metod cabinets precisely under sloped ceilings?

sefarisHello everyone,
I am planning to install IKEA Metod kitchen or cabinet units in my bedroom under a sloped ceiling and I’m a bit unsure about how to modify these cabinets so they fit perfectly and remain stable. My sloped ceiling is quite steep and irregular, so the standard cabinet setup doesn’t really work. I’m wondering how to cut and install the cabinet sides, shelves, or panels to achieve a perfect fit without large gaps or unsightly spaces. Are there any proven techniques, tools, or special adjustments you would recommend? I’m also interested in solutions for fastening the cabinets to the angled wall or ways to compensate for uneven floors. I want to avoid sloppy work later on or compromising the stability of the cabinets. How have you handled this or what tips can you share? Thanks in advance for your support!

What helped me was carefully measuring with a bevel gauge to determine the angles precisely. Then I adjusted the sides of the cabinet with a jigsaw and supported them with wooden battens to keep it stable.
I struggled with something very similar for a long time. A tip from me: build step by step, adjust as you go, and don’t cut everything at once. Sometimes I wasn’t sure if the angles were correct – trying things out with scrap wood really helps.
Some encouragement: it’s doable, even if it’s frustrating!

Hello sefaris,
I know how annoying those uneven spots can be. That moment when the shelf doesn’t fit flush against the slope can be really frustrating. What helped me a lot was staying patient and taking multiple measurements.
I can only agree with that. One tip from me is to cut small test pieces before the final cut to check if the angle is correct. That saves a lot of frustration.
Also, I applied plastic edge protectors to the cut edges to protect the wood and ensure clean lines.
Keep your chin up, it will work out!

To install cabinets accurately under sloped ceilings, first measure the angle of the slope using a bevel gauge and transfer it to the cabinet sides. Then adjust them with a jigsaw and complete the cabinets with precisely fitting wooden filler pieces. It is best to secure them to the wall using brackets and screws.
Hey sefaris! Really exciting project! I had a lot of fun adjusting things under the sloping roof, even though it requires a lot of patience. My tip: Use adjustable carpenter’s squares to determine the correct angles and use waterproof wood glue for joints that are hard to reach. Don’t be afraid— with a little care, you can create really cool and stable solutions! Good luck!
