Hello everyone, I recently rented a small room, and the limited space presents a challenge: how can I arrange and use my Ikea Besta shelving unit so that it remains practical and functional in a very small room without overwhelming the space visually? I am especially interested in creative yet practical tips for optimizing space with Besta, such as modifications, expansions, or clever combinations with other furniture or storage solutions. Does anyone have experience making Besta suitable for small spaces, particularly when mobility or multifunctional features are needed? Looking forward to your ideas!

Maybe you’d like to build a kind of "Besta-Bar"? A tall cabinet with a flip-up door as a countertop plus small shelves above for bottles or glasses? Cool and space-saving!

That sounds really charming and definitely fun!

Also, I really liked that several people mentioned mobile use here. Casters are seriously underrated; they make it much easier to quickly rearrange things—especially when the room has to serve multiple purposes.

One more idea: a Besta shelf with a cushion on top, if the height works out, could also serve as extra seating. Multifunctional furniture for the win!

I love using Besta in small rooms! 😊✨ One highlight for me was adding LEDs under the shelves; it creates an amazing atmosphere and makes the furniture appear to float.

Furthermore, I recommend using the surface of the Besta cabinet units as a multifunctional area in small rooms, for example as a small workspace or for decoration.

I completely agree! Especially in small rooms, every square centimeter (square inch) counts.

Here’s another tip: if you combine Besta with open units, you can incorporate decoration and plants, which brings life to the corner without cluttering the space. Good luck with your design – you’ll do great!
