ᐅ Well Construction for Garden Fountains – Is It Worth It?

Hello.
I am considering having a well drilled. Does anyone have experience with this?
Is it worth it? If so, after how many years, assuming it will mainly be used for garden irrigation?
Does anyone know about the costs? So far, I only have approximate prices (about 90-100€ per meter drilled).
Of course, I don’t know how deep the groundwater is.

Until it gets noticed, and then there’s a big outcry. Then it’s all just estimated. Not recommended.

Do you really consider the risk of being caught to be high? I know many cases where groundwater obtained via wells is very "cheap," and nobody has shown any interest in it so far.

I definitely don’t want to encourage anyone; it just surprises me. Back then, I was too scared

No, it won’t be noticeable. Unless the plumber installs the additional pipes and the switch right next to the water meter – but that would be a foolish move if you want to avoid detection.

Although the city should actually be happy if as much water as possible flows through the sewer system.

Since I have no experience with the topic and don’t know any data about it, I cannot give a definitive assessment. We built our house on a well and therefore also have external water taps. Connecting a washing machine or toilet would have been easy, but we didn’t do it either.

The problem is less that anyone could somehow detect it (unusually low consumption?), and more that at some point, you might have a disagreement with someone and then get reported.

Haha – that would trigger a chain reaction; no – that risk really doesn’t exist

The excavation contractor and the general contractor told us that it wouldn’t be worthwhile for just garden irrigation—admittedly, not a scientific study, but still.
For anything else, the water contains too much iron—the neighbors apparently once connected a washing machine, which broke down very quickly.

I don’t know what drilling costs these days – in the past, the fire department guys used to do it informally. However, when I see on summer days how often just my neighbors water their gardens (we all have between 400 and 1000 m² (4300 and 11,000 sq ft) of garden behind the house), I seriously doubt the statements from your groundworker/general contractor.
