Hello.
I am considering having a well drilled. Does anyone have experience with this?
Is it worth it? If so, after how many years, assuming it will mainly be used for garden irrigation?
Does anyone know about the costs? So far, I only have approximate prices (about 90-100€ per meter drilled).
Of course, I don’t know how deep the groundwater is.

I also live in NRW.

Of course, you should definitely ask around.

I could (still) bypass the electricity meter and it would never be noticed...
I strongly doubt that, because the responsible inspectors at the utility company carefully monitor the annual bills. If there are significant discrepancies, they will come knocking at your door—one, two, three times—and if they find anything, not only will you face a fine.

I highly doubt that—especially if you 1) build new and start from scratch, and 2) change providers every year.

Of course, you shouldn’t overdo it—zero consumption will raise everyone’s suspicions.

But what can I say—everyone has to decide for themselves.

Our utility provider sends forms to be filled out. However, an employee will still carry out an inspection during the year. In the past, there was simply too much trouble caused by dishonesty based only on the forms.

When changing providers, a photo of the meter reading must be submitted. No joke! The fact is that corrections will eventually be made, whether through a sale or a follow-up inspection.

This is similar to the assumption that once LED lights are installed, you can leave the lights on throughout the entire house 24 hours a day non-stop and still save energy. Self-deception does not pay off.
