Hi everyone,
My wife and I are close to finalizing our design, which we are developing with an architect. The results are shown in the attached images. Since this forum gathers a lot of experience from homeowners, we would really appreciate hearing opinions of any kind.
One thing not yet updated in the images but already communicated is moving the balcony to the bedroom side, which is also where the exit is.
The floor plan is almost perfect for us. Window placement was our most recent focus, and this is where I still see potential—especially the question of whether to use divided windows or larger single-pane windows.
We look forward to your feedback.
Good luck,
Jan

Knallkörper12 Aug 2017 14:09A nice design. I like the ground floor. Regarding the upper floor, here are a few points that personally don’t work for me:
1. Bathroom too small. How big are the shower, washbasins, and bathtub in the drawing?
2. Bedroom can only be accessed through the walk-in closet— is that really what you want?
3. Children’s rooms are too small for me. The bedroom also seems small if you want to have a wardrobe there.
Personally, I would give up some circulation space and the second bathroom on the upper floor to address these three points.

One change that has already been discussed but is not yet shown in the pictures is moving the balcony to the side of the bedroom, which is also where the exit is located.
The floor plan is nearly perfect for us. The last item we are still considering is the placement and design of the windows. Specifically, whether to have divided windows or larger windows with a single pane of glass.
We look forward to your opinions.
Best regards,
Jan

Why does the design look the way it does?
The architect received a very specific template from us, which we then adjusted in detail.

Hello, I also really like the house. Congratulations!
One detail I would reconsider: For the ground floor terrace area, I would prefer sliding doors. In summer, they simply invite you to leave the doors open without any door panels protruding into the room, which might also require door stops to prevent them from moving constantly.
Best regards
Axel

I agree with the previous speaker, although the design strikes me overall as a rather unusual hybrid ("tent roof Bauhaus").
Do you mean, while keeping the shown dimensions, whether to omit the central mullion in the visually double-winged fixed elements, yes or no? – I would vote no, keep them as double sash.
How is the overall appearance (texture) of the surfaces supposed to be? In the perspective drawings it looks like plaster, but with the tent roof I would find brick cladding more attractive (and possibly the bay windows in plaster).
