After my Pax wardrobe caused no problems for 2 years, suddenly yesterday one of the sliding doors came off its track out of the blue, and the frustration began... When I assembled it, there was some space on the left side of the wardrobe to hang the doors, but that space is no longer available because the bed is now directly next to it.

So my question is: is it absolutely necessary to have free space on one side to hang the doors, or is there any way to attach them "from the front"?

Many thanks for any help!

Hello, you only need space on the side if the ceiling is too low. First, you have to unscrew the parts at the bottom of the door. Take a look at the installation instructions.

Do you mean unscrewing the brackets that go into the rails at the bottom of the cabinet? I already tried that, but I still had the problem of hanging the second door once the first one was in place.

Is there a recommendation on whether to install the rear or the front sliding door first? According to the manual, the front one should be installed first, but then I encounter the problem mentioned above again...

I answered a bit too quickly there. I suspect the installation sequence was changed at some point because otherwise the door can more easily slip into the wrong groove. If there is no room at the side at all, installing the back first, then the front, works better. Take a look at an older instruction manual.

It is also possible without space next to the cabinet – it’s a bit fiddly, but it works. According to the instructions, the outer door (the one that faces forward) must be installed first, moving it to the left, then the inner door to the right.

The problem is that, because of the already mounted outer door, there is little to no room for your left hand. This is how I did it (I hope it’s understandable):
First, unlock the inner door latch (if it’s not already open).
Then you need to try to get the upper left corner of the inner door behind the outer door. At this point, the wheel should already be in the correct groove. Only then attach the upper right side of the door. To make this easier, you can remove the bottom guides on both doors beforehand. This way, you can tilt the outer door slightly forward, and the inner door does not have to be hooked in at the bottom first (as the instructions describe). To remove all the guides, you have to unscrew the left dust protection strip from the outer door.
