Hello dear community,
I would like to ask for information regarding ongoing operating costs for a single-family house.
We plan to build soon and want to test our debt service capacity. For this, I have also calculated ongoing operating costs:
Framework:
- 3 people (2 adults, 1 child)
- Single-family house, 160 m² (1722 sq ft) in Rhineland-Palatinate
I have calculated the following monthly costs:
Is this realistic? Is there a simplifying factor (cost per m²) that I could use for verification?
Have I missed an important cost item or anything else? I look forward to your input.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Ralf_1980

Hover198110 May 2019 15:10I pay €394 per year without photovoltaic panels.
That strongly depends on the region. On Check24, there are even building insurance policies for 120€ and contents insurance for 70€...
I don’t have glass coverage, which makes it noticeably more expensive, and glass hardly ever breaks anyway.
Edit: Just checked quickly: with glass and elemental damage coverage, it would be 305€ with the same insurer.
Being near a river or on a slope quickly makes it much more expensive.

I also had a cheaper offer from the insurance broker, but he advised me against this insurer due to previous bad experiences.
Thank you

I have a lot of glass and small children, so it’s included in the building insurance. It cost about €30 (around $30). I don’t include glass in the contents insurance since the internal glazing is limited. However, I have an additional coverage for natural hazards in the contents insurance, which brings the cost to €150 (around $150).
