Hello,
is there any advantage of the lower drawers compared to the medium-height ones? (Apart from the lower price)
Unfortunately, I only noticed the difference during assembly; the design software selected the lower drawers for many base cabinets and tall cabinets...
With those, I canât install divider inserts, for example...
Therefore, I want to switch everything to the medium-height drawers and return the lower ones (all still packed). Is there any reason not to do that?
Iâm referring to the drawers with 20cm (8 inches) high fronts.
I would appreciate any tips.
Good luck, simon84

In my case, it was the other way around. I planned for medium-sized drawers everywhere, and the designer also included a medium drawer under the cooktop, but I had to replace it with a low drawer because otherwise, the NYTTIG cover panel couldnât be installed. Otherwise, as I already mentioned, I have two medium drawers (2x20cm (8 inches)) in the base cabinets and one large drawer underneath (1x40cm (16 inches)).

zetterberg19 Feb 2015 07:20Hello,
is there any advantage of the lower drawers compared to the medium ones? ...Well, if you only have cutlery, napkins, or other flat items inside, why use the medium ones?
I think the three heights are good, better than just having two options before.

Doppellunt19 Feb 2015 08:01I had to exchange this for a low one because otherwise the NYTTIG cover board cannot be installed That is not correct. We have medium-height drawers under the cooktop with the NYTTIG divider and a countertop only 28 mm (1 inch) thick. It works perfectly fine, with about a finger's width of space between the side panels and the divider.
I find low drawers only useful if you want to maximize every last cent from the kitchen or if 20 cm (8 inches) fronts are equipped with additional inner drawers. In that case, two low drawers are stacked behind one 20 cm (8 inches) front.
For 40 cm (16 inches) fronts, low inner drawers are also recommended, but I installed a medium-height one as an inner drawer. However, you have to open it from the bottom, whereas the low ones can also be opened from the top with a handle integrated into the front panel. This is not a problem for us and works the same with two low drawers stacked.
Best regards

Sektionschef19 Feb 2015 08:49Thatâs not quite correct. We have medium drawers below the cooktop with Nyttig dividers and only a 28mm (1.1 inch) thick countertop. It works fine; thereâs still about the thickness of a finger of space between the side rails and the divider. My base cabinets all have a large drawer at the bottom with a 40cm (16 inch) front, and above that, two medium drawers each with a 20cm (8 inch) front. The countertop is 3.8cm (1.5 inch) thick. With a cabinet like this, it was not possible to install the Nyttig because the upper drawer was too tall. Only after replacing it with a lower drawer could I install the Nyttig.
I assume in your case the middle drawer under the Nyttig is mounted lower to avoid interference with the divider.

Doppellunt19 Feb 2015 09:40@Sektionschef,
the setup is identical to yours. From the bottom: one large drawer 40cm (16 inches) high, two medium drawers 20cm (8 inches) high each, with the top medium drawer having a dividerâthat fits perfectly for me. Lowering them isnât an option, as this would cause collisions with the drawers below.
But something occurs to me that might explain the difference: Did you install the bottom drawer differently than the middle and upper ones? Iâm referring to the position of the drawer frontâthe bottom drawer needs to be set slightly deeper so that its front panel aligns flush with the cabinet base (see the screw positions of the two mounting parts that attach to the front panel in the assembly instructions). Maybe this is why your setup doesnât fit properly at the top?
