Hello community,

I’m currently putting together a Metod kitchen and can’t find any fridge-freezer combinations that fit into the METOD built-in cabinets without having to install a second shelf 10cm (4 inches) above the bottom panel. The lower sections of standard fridge-freezer units seem to have a height of about 70cm (28 inches). Because of the 20cm (8 inches) modular grid, you also lose another 10cm (4 inches) at the top, creating a second gap. Unfortunately, the lower gap can’t be covered at the front either, since the door hinge is located there. If IKEA introduces its own dimensions and kitchen appliances, one would expect them to be better coordinated. As it stands, only a 158cm (62 inches) device fits into the 178cm (70 inches) niche, leaving two impractical unused spaces.

I don’t understand the problem. In my rented apartment with a fitted kitchen (Wellmann), there is a Liebherr refrigerator installed, also with about 12cm (5 inches) of clearance to the bottom of the cabinet.

If you have 178cm (70 inches) of space, a combo unit with a 177cm (70 inch) niche size should fit. I have seen this in the Ikea showroom as well.

Hello,

if you choose the cabinet ME 722 (unfortunately, I can’t link it), you will only have storage space at the top. It will look exactly like in your picture.

And if I want to have two doors, like here: the link no longer works, is it then possible to have no gap at the bottom, as shown in the picture? I can't find the cabinet, it seems to have a body height of 200cm (79 inches) – is that still the Factum model? The M720 with a height of 220cm (87 inches)

Tall white freestanding kitchen cabinet system with open door and interior shelves

would be the closest match but apparently has the mentioned gap at the bottom.

It is the very first built-in cabinet after the dishwasher fronts when you look at Ikea kitchen furniture, built-in cabinets.

Take a look at the installation manual for Effektfull.
If the lower door of the unit is not about 60cm (24 inches) or 80cm (31 inches) high, you will have to accept a narrow compartment at the bottom. You can close it off with a cover panel or, for example, place a cooling rack for cakes inside.
