Hello everyone,

I noticed that one of the mounting brackets is missing from my new Kallax shelf unit. Specifically, it’s the small metal clip used to secure or stabilize the shelf to the wall. Since I need to assemble the shelf urgently and don’t have time to wait for a replacement, I’m wondering how I can improvise.

What simple and safe solutions do you know to replace a missing Kallax bracket? Are there alternatives that are stable enough without using specialized parts? I want to make sure the shelf is securely anchored to prevent tipping, without scratching or damaging it.

I look forward to your ideas and experiences!

I just wanted to say that you’re doing the right thing by thinking ahead and asking for advice. Kallax units can tip over quite easily if they aren’t secured – many people underestimate this. Sometimes I was also worried about making mistakes during assembly.

Good luck! If you like, I can also share some tips on the best placement positions in the room, if that would be helpful.

In conclusion: If the shelf is heavily loaded, it is better to attach additional angle irons at the bottom for stabilization. This further reduces the risk of tipping.

Good tip, thanks! I will secure the Kallax like this: two metal brackets at the top with toggle anchors in the drywall, and additionally two small angle brackets at the bottom as foot support to prevent tipping.

Thanks to everyone for the help – now I have a clear and practical guide to safely fasten the shelf.
