The one-kilogram (2.2 pounds) tolerance will probably still be acceptable, but I assume you want to use the microphone as well, which will make it even heavier. Kallax is made only of cardboard, hardboard ("back panel material"), and an outer frame of chipboard. At first, it will hold, maybe even for a long time, but possibly not forever.
I wouldn’t do it, especially if there is a risk that a child could be injured by it falling.

That may be true, but production and pricing are planned according to a specific purpose.
Therefore, I find it "strange" to get upset about that. I’m only upset because Kallax is not an inexpensive product. As you can see, even a kitchen cabinet carcass is more stable.
What about Besta? Unfortunately, I only have a maximum width of 76-77 cm (30-30.5 inches).

What are the dimensions of the microwave?

Or is that too narrow?
I don’t really understand what this is about—what is the finished piece supposed to look like? Hanging on the wall? I also see that Kallax shelves support only 13 kg (29 lbs) per shelf.
If you want to cut Metod panels, you’re welcome to come over—I have the saw for that. But the holes for the connectors and so on would need to be redone as well...
I would build a “composite construction.” Cut a sturdy shelf board to size (have it cut), for example, from plywood. It can be thin (9 or 12 mm (0.35 or 0.47 inches)) and glued over the entire surface to the “microwave board.”
Best regards, Wolfgang

What are the dimensions of the microwave? Footprint (width x depth): 30 x 40 cm (12 x 16 inches)
Besta is available in 60 cm width. Or is that too narrow? That’s right, I saw Besta in the store. Do the KALLAX inserts fit in there?
I don’t really understand what this is about – what is the finished unit supposed to look like? Wall-mounted? I also found only 13 kg load capacity per shelf for Kallax. The shelf is supposed to stand on the floor with the microwave on top. On some KALLAX page it says 20 kg maximum load as a wall cabinet.
If you want to cut METOD panels, you are welcome to come to me – I have the saw for that. But the holes for the connectors and so on would have to be redone as well… Couldn’t you use brackets there and then additionally add a KALLAX-style cross brace for stabilization?

IKEA-Experte4 May 2016 13:10If the thing is standing on the floor, then place a board underneath to prevent the legs from pressing through the surface, and you’re done.
