IKEA-Experte27 Apr 2016 12:05The one-kilogram (2.2 pounds) tolerance will probably still be acceptable, but I assume you want to use the microphone as well, which will make it even heavier. Kallax is made only of cardboard, hardboard ("back panel material"), and an outer frame of chipboard. At first, it will hold, maybe even for a long time, but possibly not forever.
I wouldn’t do it, especially if there is a risk that a child could be injured by it falling.

IKEA-Experte27 Apr 2016 14:42Does it have to be like KALLAX? A Metod carcass is sturdy.

The problem lies with the user who wants to repurpose a piece of furniture for something it wasn’t designed for...
Does it have to be like KALLAX? A METOD cabinet is sturdy. I would like to insert some drawers into the bottom of the KALLAX. The METOD cabinet is 60 cm (24 inches) wide, so I can’t fit two KALLAX drawers side by side.
I would actually need to use the 80 cm (31½ inches) METOD unit and have it cut down to KALLAX width. Is that possible, or will the coating peel off?
(I should have chosen METOD instead of FYNDAL, what a mistake).
The problem lies with the user who wants to repurpose a piece of furniture... Come on, KALLAX is exactly the piece of furniture that gets repurposed the most.

That’s why I find it “strange” to get upset about it.
Or do you also complain about Ferrari if your sports car breaks down after 20 meters (65 feet) in rough off-road terrain?
What about Besta?
