I recently had my IKEA Kallax shelving unit severely damaged due to flooding in my apartment. Some of the shelves have swollen, the side panels are warped, and the back panel is no longer flat. Now I’m wondering: Is there a way to get specific replacement parts for the Kallax system from IKEA or elsewhere? I’d prefer not to replace the entire unit, as many of the modules and accessories like boxes and doors would then become useless.
Has anyone had experience obtaining individual shelves, side panels, or back panels for the Kallax shelving unit—especially after water damage? Are there official options through IKEA customer service or reliable alternative sources? Thanks in advance for any help!

Regarding spare parts for the Kallax shelving unit, IKEA does not officially sell individual components. After water damage, a warranty claim is only possible if the damage is due to a manufacturing defect, which is excluded in the case of flood damage.
As an alternative, custom-cut shelves made of wood or MDF from a carpenter or a home improvement store are suitable. Side panels can also be replaced with matching wooden boards that can be cut to size. Back panels can be replaced with simple chipboard and, if necessary, painted white to match the appearance.
I recommend measuring the exact dimensions of the shelving unit and the damaged parts to have precise cuts made.

Hello,
Regarding the issue: IKEA does not officially sell Kallax replacement parts individually, as the shelf is considered as a whole unit. However, there is a small trick: Sometimes you can buy pallets of Kallax parts at the IKEA store, which consist of returns or damaged modules. This way, you can specifically request the parts you need.
In addition, some specialized online retailers offer custom-made shelf parts that are precisely matched to Kallax dimensions. Although this is somewhat more expensive than DIY, it saves time and uncertainty. For flood damage repairs, I strongly recommend using waterproof or at least moisture-resistant materials.
If you are skilled with tools, a combination of modified original parts and self-made wooden panels can often work very well.
I am happy to assist with further questions on this topic.
