ᐅ If your KALLAX is standing on felt pads, do you really not get any pressure marks?

Hello everyone, I have a question that has been on my mind for a while and that I would like to discuss with you: Does your KALLAX shelf rest on felt glides or felt pads to protect the floor, and if so, have you really experienced no pressure marks on the felt glides themselves or even on the floor? I’m asking because I recently fitted our KALLAX with felt glides, but after some time I noticed slight impressions on the felt strips and minimal marks on the laminate flooring. Are there any specific recommendations, perhaps certain types or thicknesses of felt that work better? Or does anyone have a different solution that provides long-lasting protection without leaving unsightly pressure marks? Looking forward to your experiences and tips!

Felt was too soft for me and got dirty quickly.I feel the same way. Felt often lacks the necessary durability for heavy use. I prefer plastic glides—they protect the floor better and last longer.

My tip: If you don’t want to keep buying new felt pads, it’s better to invest in thicker felt underlays right from the start. Thanks for the advice! Thickness is definitely a key factor. I’ll look into getting thicker wool felt pads and try the careful application method you suggested.

I will redo it properly when I get the chance and report back.Looking forward to your feedback!
I’m also interested in alternatives like plastic gliders or foam rubber. How durable are these, especially under furniture loads like a KALLAX filled with books and decorations? Maybe someone else has experience with this?
I’d be glad if we could deepen this discussion a bit more.
