Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an Ikea Platsa wardrobe system and am now considering whether and how to retrofit it with soft-close functionality. My question is: Is there an official or at least proven guide on how to add soft-close fittings to Ikea Platsa, specifically for the drawers and doors? I want to avoid just buying something randomly and hoping it fits, since the dimensions are somewhat unique and Ikea usually uses their own fittings.
Additionally, it would be helpful to know if special adapters or replacement parts are needed for this, or if standard soft-close mechanisms are compatible. Any experience with installation or problems encountered during retrofitting would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I would add that retrofitting is possible, but you either need custom work or a specially compatible system.I agree with this. Retrofitting soft-close mechanisms on Ikea Platsa furniture is technically feasible, but due to the unique construction of the units, it is not straightforward. There is no official instruction from Ikea, so some craftsmanship is necessary.
Furthermore, I recommend not only focusing on easy installation but also on the quality of the dampers. Low-cost products are often less durable and may not work optimally with Platsa doors or drawers.
My advice: careful planning, precise measurements, and—if longer durability of the retrofitted dampers is desired—replacement of the mounting plates on the drawers.
