Hello everyone,
I am currently working on planning a built-in solution where several Pax wardrobes are installed side by side. I have a question: is it safe to install multiple Pax units next to each other without compromising the stability or safety of the wardrobes?
I am especially interested in whether there are any specific installation guidelines to follow, for example regarding wall fixings or how the individual modules should be connected to each other.
It would also be helpful to know if there are any practical recommendations on how to proceed with such an installation to avoid future issues like tipping hazards or load problems.
Thanks in advance for your opinions and experiences!

Yes, that usually works very well – the Pax series is designed for flexible combinations. The key is to securely attach all the cabinets to the wall. This provides the necessary support and prevents tipping hazards.
I recommend using the connecting brackets or special mounting kits between the individual Pax modules to ensure everything is stable and aligned. Also, it can sometimes be helpful to add a few extra screws, especially if children or pets are involved.
All in all: as long as you follow the instructions and don’t forget the wall fastenings, you’re good to go! Enjoy assembling 😉
I can only agree—it’s really important to securely anchor cabinets to the wall. I once had a situation where I installed two cabinets side by side without metal connectors, and after some time, the middle section shifted slightly. That made me uneasy because I was afraid the structure might become unstable.
I would recommend that as well. Especially in households with children, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Are there any special plywood boards that can be screwed behind the cabinet backs to provide additional stability? Has anyone tried that?

Interesting question, but I would like to clarify a few points: When we talk about the safety and stability of multiple Pax wardrobes installed side by side, which load cases are actually relevant?
- Is the weight of the wardrobes and their contents evenly distributed?
- How do uneven floors affect the setup?
- Are all wardrobes identical, or are there different sizes or color combinations that influence the installation?
In my opinion, the simplest answer is: Safety largely depends on how well the individual units are connected, properly aligned, and securely fixed to the wall.
However, there are potential weak points, especially if the assembly instructions are not followed to the letter or if the floor level varies significantly. This can cause stress in the frame, which over time may lead to material fatigue.
If anyone has data or concrete experience regarding long-term loads, it would be interesting to hear about it.

As an addition: Wall mounting is essential. No wall-mounted Pax units placed side by side should remain unanchored without drilling.
- Use connecting brackets between the cabinets.
- Level at floor height with shims if necessary.
- Distribute weight evenly and store heavy items as low as possible.
This way, you avoid tipping hazards and ensure stability.
It hardly gets shorter and clearer than this.

I am absolutely thrilled with Pax, but only if it is installed properly! 😊
Definitely yes, as long as you use the integrated mounting systems! I once placed three units side by side, connected them with the linking brackets in between, screwed everything together, and secured them to the wall – it’s rock solid!
And a little tip from me: Make sure your wall structure is suitable (for example, no drywall alone without additional support), otherwise I would recommend using appropriate anchors or even reinforcement.
So: Be confident, get your screws out, and it will be a great success! 🎉
