Hello everyone

I would like to shorten my 150cm (59 inches) Pax sliding door wardrobe in width/length to about half. Then I also want to convert the door into a hinged door.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you!

Pax cabinets have a 50 cm (20 inch) carcass depth, right? So you have either 1 x 1 m (39 inch) and 1 x 0.5 m (20 inch) or 3 x 0.5 m (20 inch) units.

The easiest solution is, of course, to stick to this grid and choose widths of either 0.5 m (20 inch) or 1 m (39 inch). That way, you can simply purchase matching doors.

If you really want to add a 0.25 m (10 inch) section, you will not only have the effort of cutting all the parts and re-routing/drilling new holes, but you will also have to find a suitable door.

No, there are also 75cm (30 inches) sizes, and sliding door cabinets are often built using two sections of 75cm (30 inches) each.

Ok, good to know. But then it wouldn't be a problem, right?

I think so too.

Ikea does not offer 75cm (30 inches) wide doors. Only 50cm + 25cm (20 inches + 10 inches) are available.
Be careful if there are drawers inside, as they do not fit with standard hinges.
