Hello!
I am currently planning our new kitchen with the IKEA Ädel front in white!
Unfortunately, we only have space for a 50cm (20 inch) base cabinet for our sink. I would like to equip this with a pull-out waste bin system, but unfortunately, IKEA does not offer this for that cabinet width.
So either you buy the pull-out cabinet with 3 drawers, but then you can’t use the top two drawers, and the bottom one is so deep that you might have trouble storing the siphon and dishwasher connection.
Or you buy the 50cm (20 inch) sink base cabinet with a hinged door—but then there is no drawer.
Since I definitely want a pull-out waste bin, I am considering buying a pull-out system from Hailo (or Blanco or Franke) that includes integrated waste bins and modifying the 50cm (20 inch) sink base cabinet accordingly.
Has anyone done this before? Is it possible to simply attach the door as a pull-out front instead of a hinged door to such a ready-made waste bin system?
I would really appreciate any feedback!
Thank you in advance
Best regards

You can use the set of three and sell the extra drawers on eBay or buy one on eBay. This is what they would recommend to you at the furniture store.

For the 50cm (20 inch) cabinet, there is always only the hinged door option. How it is mounted on the pull-out can be seen in the assembly instructions:

You will be able to easily install a system from Franke. The advantage is that the bins are not exposed inside the cabinet and you don’t have to open a separate lid.

I’m curious to see how this will look with the Faktum replacement next year.

Hello!
That was quick! Thank you very much for the fast response. I had already considered modifying the drawer system and selling the rest on eBay, but with the resulting 50cm (20 inches) pull-out, only two relatively small Ikea buckets would fit, and they would probably slide around. I think that would be a shaky solution! That’s why I’m considering the pull-out system from another company, but installed in a standard Ikea base cabinet without drawers. So, did I understand your answer correctly? You can install such a Franke pull-out system in a standard 50cm (20 inches) wide Ikea base cabinet with hinged doors for sinks? And then simply attach the door to the front of the pull-out system? That would be perfect; that’s exactly how I imagined it!

Whether the door is mounted directly on the manifold or if the manifold slides out when the hinged door is opened depends on the model. It’s possible that the pot hole is located exactly where the manifold is attached to the front. In that case, the plastic plug from Ikea or a wooden disc may need to be inserted/glued into the hole.

I would measure everything and purchase the appropriate system only after the sink and trap are installed (it’s better to install the trap yourself than to have a professional do it https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/blende-fuer-spuelschrank-fa167.20360/).

Hello, I had the same problem, especially since my sink cabinet is placed around a corner (a regular cabinet, not a corner cabinet, with the countertop cut accordingly for the corner). Then I found a pull-out trash bin at the hardware store: it includes two bins placed one behind the other, is about 30 cm (12 inches) wide, and has a lid on top, so it’s basically like a drawer inside the cabinet. The whole unit is mounted to the cabinet floor with just two screws. I think it’s perfect. Next to and behind it, there is still space for various cleaning supplies. The manufacturer is called Hailo (I hope it’s okay to mention this here). By the way, this system is also used in a high-end kitchen brand, where they just screw a kitchen front onto the front and sell it as a pull-out trash bin for hundreds of dollars. I happened to discover it at my mom’s place after the system looked very familiar to me, so I took a look underneath.
