Hello dear forum,

I am probably missing something obvious and the problem is easy to fix, but I can’t figure it out without help.

This morning, I wanted to install my new Fratmid microwave into my wall cabinet (60x100cm (24x39 inches)). According to the installation manual, the required distance between the top edge of the lower shelf and the bottom edge of the shelf above must be exactly 355mm (14 inches) so that the microwave (height 348mm (14 inches)) fits properly.

However, the available height between the shelves is 18mm (0.7 inches) too small, so the microwave doesn’t fit.

Maybe someone can help me and tell me where I’m making a mistake. Thank you very much.

Attached are a few pictures to illustrate the situation.

You’re still missing more than 355, right? It looks like 330. I think the floor above needs to be 1 meter (3.3 feet) higher.

Edit: Oh wait, I just realized the door wouldn’t fit then. Have you tried sliding the insulation in to see if it really doesn’t fit?

The insulation board (MW) actually doesn't fit. It's about 1.8cm (0.7 inches) too short. Could it be that the upper board is placed/glued directly onto the insulation board? The instructions at least allow for that interpretation.

I can imagine that. Is the strip there an adhesive tape? If you look at the installation in a tall cabinet, it seems like an extra hole is drilled at the back to stabilize the resting floor instead of using the pre-made ones.

Hello wulf1,
I just checked on my side, and you need to position the top shelf a bit higher. The door at the top still closes because the upper part of the insulation board is set back.
Best regards and a good year 2017,
robi
P.S. I just noticed that your hinge is there; I had the top-hinged folding solution. Drill new holes for the shelf further above the insulation board.
And...
yes, it is exactly 1.8cm (0.7 inches) above and rests on the insulation board.
