Hello everyone, I am currently facing the challenge of installing IKEA Metod kitchen fronts precisely and as quietly as possible. I find it particularly difficult to adjust the doors so that they close completely flush and do not make any noise when opening or closing. I am especially interested in whether there are proven techniques or tools that make precise alignment easier while also enabling silent closing. Are there any tricks for adjusting the Metod hinges or specific details to keep in mind to avoid wobbling, scraping, or creaking? I would appreciate detailed tips, ideally including advice on the best methods to align the doors with millimeter accuracy.

To be honest, I wonder if that’s a bit much to expect from an IKEA system, which is actually designed for quick, not overly delicate assembly. Sure, you can adjust the hinges, but completely silent? I think that’s more of an illusion unless you install dampers or other additional solutions. Maybe you should consider achieving that level of perfection with different fronts or hinges. IKEA Metod is mass-produced, so it doesn’t involve high-end engineering.

For precise adjustment of the Metod doors, the three adjustment screws on the hinges are key.
- First screw: Adjust height
- Second screw: Adjust door depth
- Third screw: Adjust lateral position

To ensure silent closing, install dampers and lubricate the hinges well. This is usually sufficient.

Hello, I can fully understand the difficulties. Installing the Metod doors really requires some patience. It is important to first loosely screw the doors in place and then gradually fine-tune them using the three screws on the hinge:

- The height adjustment ensures that the door sits correctly in height and that the gaps between adjacent doors are even.
- The depth adjustment is crucial to make sure the door aligns flush with the cabinet frame and there are no gaps.
- The lateral adjustment makes sure the doors are aligned parallel to each other.

To avoid noises, I recommend lightly lubricating all moving parts with graphite grease or a lubricant suitable for plastic. This greatly reduces creaking and squeaking. It is also worth using the included dampers, which prevent the doors from slamming shut loudly.

If you use a mounting bracket and a level, you can align the fronts even more precisely, which ultimately leads to quieter and neater closing.

I have to agree with that. Anyone expecting silent perfection from Metod will be disappointed. The system is not designed for high-end furniture but combines functionality with affordability.

Instead of struggling with the standard hinges, I would rather opt for soft-close hinges from third-party suppliers or even switch to a different mounting system altogether.

Expecting completely silent operation from IKEA components is a rather unrealistic demand that might be better to tone down.

Hey, I can definitely encourage you! 🙂 I had similar issues at the beginning with the doors of the Metod kitchen. But with a bit of attention to detail and patience, the result turned out really great!

- Precise adjustment using the three screws
- Applying silicone grease to the hinges to make them smoother and reduce noise
- Using the basement or workshop as my workspace, so I could try several adjustments

The most important thing: Don’t rush and keep checking repeatedly. The doors will then stay stable and quiet. I think this is definitely doable!
