Hello everyone,
I recently bought an Ikea Besta sideboard and am now looking for the best care products to protect the surfaces over the long term. Since the Besta consists of a combination of coated wood and plastic elements, I especially want to know which products are recommended to prevent scratches, stains, and general wear without negatively affecting the appearance or feel.
I am particularly interested in specific recommendations for cleaners and care products that are suitable for the Besta surfaces—so not general-purpose cleaners. Are there products that have proven effective, or home remedies that actually work? It is also important to me that the products do not leave a sticky or greasy residue or any unpleasant aftereffects.
I would appreciate any experiences, advice on potential issues with certain products, and tips on the correct application!

It is also important to use the spray mist sparingly and to buff the surface with a microfiber cloth after application to avoid streaks.

I have had good experiences using special furniture care wax on my Ikea Besta combinations, but only on high-gloss surfaces. On matte finishes, it can quickly appear blotchy.
Therefore, I would recommend different approaches depending on the surface. For me, proper care also includes regularly dusting the furniture and avoiding harsh cleaners, as these can quickly diminish the appearance.
If you like, you can test new care products on an inconspicuous area first to be on the safe side.

I find this topic really interesting! I just received my Besta furniture and I’m using a furniture care foam that is specially recommended for foil surfaces. After two weeks, I’ve already noticed a significant improvement in protection against fingerprints!
My tip: make sure to thoroughly clean the surface before the first application and then apply the care foam thinly. This way, the furniture stays looking new for longer and really stands out!

It is important to pay attention to the ingredients – those free of solvents and silicones are best.
Additionally, application should be tested on a small area first, as already recommended, to ensure the foil does not become dull or spotty.
Basically, the optimal protection also depends on usage and wear – the more frequent the contact with moisture or friction, the more regularly maintenance should be carried out.
