Hello everyone, I am currently planning to buy an Ikea Platsa system and am looking into the question: how secure are the connections in Ikea PLATSA really?

Specifically, I’m interested in whether the screws, dowels, and fasteners hold up to everyday use, especially when the modules are used for heavy loads or over long periods. Are there any noticeable weak points or specific connection areas in PLATSA that tend to cause problems?

Since I plan to assemble the furniture on slightly uneven floors, it would be helpful to know if this affects stability. Does anyone have experience with the stability and durability of the connections when the modules are screwed and assembled?

I’m looking forward to your assessments and tips, especially regarding which types of connections in PLATSA are generally considered reliable or not.

Are there any reports of a decrease in connection reliability due to use or possible material fatigue?

As far as I know, there are no systematic issues in this regard. The connection components made of engineered wood products and metal are designed to resist wear. Provided the modules are not overloaded and repairs are carried out promptly when screws become loose, they can last a long time.

I don’t want to take any risks if the thing starts to loosen or wobble after two years.

Don’t worry, kardi! In my case, the doors and drawers have been used daily for over a year, and nothing is loose or sticking. The screws are tight, and the plastic anchors hold well. If anything ever does come loose, just tighten it again – it will be as good as new.

If you adjust the doors properly and install the opening mechanism correctly during assembly, there will be no issues. The stability of the connection is maintained, even with heavy use.

Caution: Opening and closing the doors too quickly can cause the fittings to loosen over time. However, this is generally true for almost all furniture.

Important: Occasionally retighten screws at connection points! This is completely normal with Platsa and works great without needing to buy anything new. Just a little care keeps everything stable and secure!

Awesome, thank you very much for the detailed answers! I now feel confident that PLATSA is well-designed and robust, especially when carefully assembled and occasionally checked.

The advice on wall mounting, the additional brackets, and retightening the screws are the best takeaways for me. I will implement it accordingly.
