Hello,

for our new build, we have a room height of 2.56m (8 ft 5 in). Our architect says that a 2.17m (7 ft 1 in) high double terrace door would be possible. It should have an interior (wall) roller shutter box. This seems too low to us, as in previous house offers with a room height of 2.50m (8 ft 2.5 in), we were able to have a 2.26m (7 ft 5 in) high terrace door.

What do you think about this?

Hello,
It probably looks a bit odd to have such a small door at ceiling height. But a simple tall door doesn't look right either. I would choose wider doors and then add a small divided window above the door...
Best regards

Could it be that some builders place the window lintel in the ceiling during the shell construction?
It looks like the roller shutter box is directly at the ceiling.

How is this typically resolved?

I would say that for a poured ceiling, a lintel is not necessary.
