drasanHello everyone, I have recently noticed a recurring problem with my IKEA Platsa cabinet doors, which have warped. Although the cabinet itself is stable, the doors no longer close properly and are sometimes misaligned or stuck.
I assume this is due to material warping, as the doors are made from medium-density fiberboard and may have absorbed moisture. These are free-standing cabinets, not wall-mounted doors.
My question: What is the best way to reshape warped IKEA Platsa doors or at least adjust them so they close properly again? Are there any proven technical tips or methods to fix this issue without completely replacing the doors?
I look forward to your experiences and advice, as replacing the doors would be too expensive and complicated for me.

The issue of warped doors with IKEA Platsa is unfortunately not uncommon, especially when humidity is involved. There are several approaches to address this:
- First, you should check if all hinges are properly adjusted, as incorrect hinge alignment is often the main cause of poor door closure.
- If the warping is severe, you can try reshaping the door by gently moistening the opposite side and allowing it to dry under controlled conditions. However, this method is only recommended for minor warping.
- Alternatively, installing additional fittings or adjusting the hinge screws can sometimes help guide the door better when closing.
- Ultimately, replacing warped doors requires effort but is often the most long-lasting solution.
It is important to permanently reduce sources of moisture to prevent the door from warping again.

Sometimes the issue is resolved simply by hanging the door slightly higher or lower to relieve tension in the wood. Additionally, the door should not be placed in direct drafts or in damp areas to prevent warping.

Hey, I also had a warped door on my Platsa! My trick was to remove the door, dampen the outside surface with a wet cloth, and then clamp it to the frame for a while. It sounds very old-fashioned, but it really helped!
Oh, and of course, readjust the hinges afterwards, otherwise the door will hang crooked again.
Keep in mind: wood reacts to moisture, so don’t be surprised if the door warps a little again after a few months.
