Hello everyone, I am currently planning a renovation of my kitchen and want to install Ikea Metod cabinet doors on the existing Metod base cabinets. I am unsure about the correct way to attach the doors to the cabinets, especially since they involve a combination with soft-close hinges. Could someone please explain in detail the steps I need to follow, from preparing the hinges to precisely adjusting them so that the doors fit properly, do not rub, and close smoothly? I have already assembled the cabinets, but I have no idea whether I can hang the doors directly on the hinges or if I need spacers or specific screws. I would really appreciate a detailed step-by-step guide, including tips for alignment and fine adjustment of the doors. Thanks in advance!
Hello Fugibau, the order is indeed important to properly align the doors and avoid damage. First, loosely attach the mounting rails with the adjustment screws to the carcass edges. This gives you some play to later align the hinges. Then, mount the hinges on the doors if they are not already pre-installed. Next, carefully hang the doors by hooking the hinges onto the mounting rails. Once the doors are hung, you can adjust the height, lateral position, and depth using the adjustment screws. Turn the screws slowly if needed and always check the door’s fit. This will help prevent incorrect installation and even allow you to compensate for minor unevenness in the carcass.

I was afraid the doors would either close too quickly or get stuck. My advice: make sure to adjust the dampers so the doors close smoothly and quietly. And if you notice the doors scraping, first check that the hinges are properly seated and readjust the screws as needed. You’ll quickly get a feel for it—it's completely normal to make a lot of fine adjustments at the beginning. Don’t get discouraged; this happens to everyone.
