Hello everyone, I have a problem with a loose IKEA Metod drawer that keeps loosening and wobbling when I pull it out or push it in. It is a standard kitchen drawer running on side-mount rails, but the front panel no longer seems to be firmly attached to the cabinet. The screws are tightened, but the drawer still wobbles – I suspect that the wood or the joint may be damaged. What is the best way to fix this loose connection without having to replace the entire drawer? Are there any proven tips or specific replacement parts available for the Metod series? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In addition to filling the holes, you might consider replacing the screws with longer ones. This engages a larger area of the wood and provides a stronger hold. For Metod, M4 x 35mm (1.4 inches) screws usually work very well.

there is still some wobbling

Isn’t it somewhat typical, like an IKEA standard, that the Metod drawers start wobbling after a while as if in their own universe? Honestly, both the cabinet frame and the front panel are made from comparatively thin material. If you don’t keep tightening or constantly check, you will never get rid of the problem permanently. Maybe consider buying a replacement front and installing it properly – sometimes repairing is just a temporary fix.

I understand the level of frustration when something in the household keeps wobbling. If the front panel already gives way slightly, it can help to place protective pads, such as thin felt pads, between the cabinet body and the front at the contact points. This cushions small movements and prevents further wear. It makes the whole situation more comfortable in the long run.

Drawers run on rails? Check if all plastic clips and guide parts are properly snapped into place. Sometimes the rails are not aligned correctly, which causes wobbling.
