Hello everyone, I’m having trouble with one of the doors on my Ikea PAX system, which is completely stuck. It’s a sliding door that catches heavily when opening and closing and no longer runs smoothly in the guide rails. I suspect that either the rollers are damaged or something has shifted within the track. I have already tried lifting the door slightly and detaching it from the rails, but I’m hesitant to apply too much force to avoid breaking anything. Are there any tried-and-tested methods or experiences on how to professionally repair a stuck IKEA PAX door, possibly with tips on adjusting the guide rails or replacing the rollers? Also, advice on tools to have on hand would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Regarding the rollers: Have you checked whether the rollers are still running smoothly and if they are properly seated in the groove?
If the door sticks, a bent track could also be the cause. This is rare but can happen if too much force was used when removing the door.
It would be helpful to carefully analyze whether the issue is mechanical with the track or with the door panel itself.
Also: How old is the PAX? Some older models have different mechanisms compared to current ones.

Remove the door from the tracks, check the rollers for damage, clean them, and if necessary, lubricate with a little silicone spray. Then reinstall the door and adjust the rollers as needed.

I replaced the rollers on my PAX door. Ikea sells replacement rollers that you can simply clip in. After that, it runs smoothly again.

Thank you, that’s a good approach. At first glance, the track looks straight enough, but I have noticed a small damage on the bottom running track – it almost seems as if something is bent or dented. The door is about 3 years old, so material fatigue shouldn’t be an issue.

That will be my next step. Is there a specific technique to safely remove the sliding door from the track, or just lift it straight up? Some say you should tilt it slightly sideways.

Lift the door upwards, then tilt it slightly to open and pull it out. Be careful with the weight—better to do this with two people. Sometimes the rollers come loose simply by lifting and tilting.
