Hello everyone, I am currently about to install my Ikea Metod kitchen drawers and have a specific question: How do I properly attach the Metod drawer slides to ensure they remain stable and operate smoothly over time?

I have the instructions, but I am unclear particularly about the precise alignment and positioning of the slide rails on the side walls of the cabinet. Which screws should I ideally use, and are there any special considerations for securing the runners to the drawer itself?

I want to avoid the drawers getting stuck later or the slides loosening quickly. Are there any tips for exact adjustment or small tricks you can recommend from experience to carry out the installation cleanly and effectively?

I appreciate any help, as it is important to me to install the mechanism correctly and avoid mistakes.

Could this be a problem?

Yes, small deviations are normal, but with your 34 mm (1.3 inches) it could be tight.

Shifting the guide rails is possible; you should align them precisely and ideally mark the cabinet body at several points.

Regarding the locking mechanism:

- When you pull the drawer out slowly, you will feel slight resistance in a certain area – that’s the ball lock.
- If it feels too tight, a slight adjustment of the screws on the drawer can help.

If the drawer sticks, it's better to double-check that all screws are tight and properly aligned.

Really exciting topic! I just installed my Metod drawers last week and can tell you: be careful when choosing screws!

Make sure to use the original screws—they are properly sized and prevent the drawer slides from being too tight or bending.

One more encouraging tip: stay patient during the adjustment process. The drawers will then glide very smoothly, and you’ll be thrilled! 🙂
