Hello everyone, I recently purchased an IKEA Metod kitchen cabinet and now face the question of how to properly attach the Metod doors with integrated handles. I especially want to ensure that the door is precisely aligned and that no damage occurs to the door front or the frame during installation.

I understand that handle-free doors are mounted differently compared to traditional doors with handles. Could you please explain in detail which screws or brackets I should use exactly and the best way to fit the door to achieve a clean result? Are there any helpful tips for fine-tuning the door so that the opening of the integrated handle remains comfortable and nothing rubs or sticks?

I look forward to your expert feedback!

Regarding screws: Use only the screws provided for the doors, otherwise you risk the wood splitting or the hinge alignment being incorrect. The spacing of the screw holes is precisely specified.

Make sure that the hinge screws are always tightened securely enough to prevent the door from loosening during use.

This is essential. From my experience, doors are subjected to significant mechanical stress in daily use. Therefore, in addition to proper adjustment, it is important to check and, if necessary, retighten the screws after a few weeks to ensure long-term functionality.

I also recommend avoiding overtightening the screws to prevent the door panel from binding or warping. Having a good feel for the correct torque is helpful in this regard.

One last note: If possible, lay the doors out flat on a table before permanently attaching the hinges and roughly align them first. This way, you can inspect the handle recess from all sides and make small adjustments before hanging the doors on the cabinet frame. This saves materials and prevents frustration.
