Hello everyone,
I have many IKEA Besta furniture pieces in my living room, and since they are used frequently, dust, grease stains, and sometimes stubborn dirt have accumulated on the surfaces over time. I am particularly interested in how to clean these pieces thoroughly without damaging the material or finish.
It would be great if you could share tips on the best cleaning products and methods to use, any special tricks for matte white or high-gloss surfaces, and how to keep the corners and edges clean as well.
Thank you in advance for your experiences and recommendations!

I am particularly interested in how to clean this furniture thoroughly without damaging the material or surface.A thorough cleaning of IKEA Besta furniture can best be divided into two steps:
- First, carefully remove dry dust, preferably with a duster or microfiber cloth.
- For stains, use a gentle cleaning agent. I recommend a neutral all-purpose cleaner spray suitable for delicate surfaces or specifically mild products without alcohol or solvents.
For matte white surfaces, a small amount of mild dish soap in water works well, while high-gloss surfaces should avoid harsh cleaners due to the risk of scratches.
Also, if you want to keep corners and edges clean, use a soft toothbrush or cotton swabs, which reach into small grooves without damaging the surface.

For stains, use a gentle cleaning agent.I can only agree with that. I also think it’s important to mention that you shouldn’t rush when cleaning. Furniture is meant to be used, and small stains also tell a story. If you proceed carefully and avoid scrubbing with harsh chemicals, your Besta furniture will stay looking good for a long time.
If something doesn’t come off right away, it’s better to clean gently and more frequently rather than scrubbing hard all at once. That’s how I take care of my Besta, and so far I’ve had hardly any issues.

This works well to remove fingerprints and dust. For matte white surfaces, a damp cloth with a mild dish detergent is helpful. Important: never use a soaking wet cloth to avoid swelling or damage to the material.
