ᐅ How can the Ikea Pax system be best utilized in attic apartments?

I am currently facing the challenge of how to best use Ikea Pax wardrobes in a loft apartment. The sloping ceiling is partly quite low and partly quite steep, so standard wardrobes hardly fit. My question is: What strategies or approaches do you know for installing Pax systems effectively and space-efficiently under sloped ceilings? Are there particularly suitable modules, customization options, or experiences you can share? I am especially interested in combining functionality with making the most of the available storage space without visually overwhelming the room or compromising usability.

It can be really frustrating when nice furniture like Pax reaches its limits during attic setup. I’ve experienced firsthand how important it is not to get discouraged and to try different interior elements. Especially flexible shelving and swing-out pole racks can help you adapt individually and make the most of the storage space. Maybe you could describe the dimensions of the sloped ceiling in more detail so we can offer better advice.

Good idea. Specifically, the roof slope over a room width of 4 meters (13 ft) gradually becomes shallower along a length of 2.5 meters (8 ft), ranging from about 2.20 m (7 ft 3 in) at the highest point to approximately 1.00 m (3 ft 3 in) at the lowest. The main purpose is storage space for clothing and household items. I have considered shortening some Pax units to around 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) in height and combining them with open shelves underneath. I think this could help avoid overwhelming the space. Has anyone had experience with this?

Shortening is possible, but it requires very precise work. Alternatively, lower options like Komplement shelves can be used, which can be combined securely. This way, you gain storage space without complicated modifications.

That’s a good point. Open shelving does indeed feel lighter and more airy. To add to that: sliding doors also save space and make it easier to use rooms with low ceiling heights, especially in tight attic spaces.
