Hello everyone,

I am currently exploring how to better integrate Ikea Pax wardrobes into spaces with sloped ceilings. The standard Pax wardrobe solutions often reach their limits in these areas because the standardized dimensions and side panels are not flexible enough to make optimal use of the angled space.

What I am specifically interested in is how to use existing Pax elements, possibly combined with accessories or custom modifications, to maximize storage in sloped ceiling areas without having to resort to complicated or expensive custom builds.

For example, how feasible are cutting or shortening options, what compartment layouts make sense, and are there any good tips for accessories that can help with the integration?

Looking forward to your experiences and ideas!

The easiest way is to cut off the upper parts of the PAX wardrobes and then use cover panels to adjust the slope.

Alternatively, Ikea also offers angled inserts for PAX, although availability is limited. More flexibility can be achieved with custom builds or third-party accessories.

Hello Jeklo,

I understand that integrating PAX wardrobes into sloped ceilings can be challenging. Here is a brief guide based on my experience:

- Take measurements: It’s important to accurately measure the cut dimensions for the slope on the wall, measuring height and width at several points.
- Adjust components: With PAX, the carcasses can be shortened at the top and sides. When trimming the carcass, be careful not to damage any load-bearing parts or rails.
- Modify the doors: If the doors don’t fit, either choose sliding doors or customize the doors yourself with a jigsaw. Especially with sloped ceilings, this can significantly increase usable space.
- Shelves and adjustable shelves: Use adjustable shelves that can be placed flexibly to make better use of narrow or sloping areas.
- Accessories: Ikea offers various corner and connector pieces to join and adapt cabinets—use these consistently.

Tip: If unsure, first measure and work with cardboard models of the slope before working on the real furniture. This helps avoid frustrating mistakes.

I hope this helps you for now!

Exactly, this is absolutely essential. Without precise measurements, a perfect fit cannot be achieved.

Additionally, I recommend paying attention to the construction limits, especially with PAX: The carcasses are made from particleboard with edges that can be difficult to work with when cutting, potentially compromising stability or appearance.

A practical solution for better integration is to create custom fillers or adjustments from MDF panels to fill the gaps between the sloped ceiling and the wardrobe. These can be color-matched to the wardrobe and are much more cost-effective than custom-made PAX alternatives.

Furthermore, the door opening direction should be considered: with sloped ceilings, sliding doors or hinge-less doors are often more practical to make the best use of the limited space.

In summary:
- Accurate measurements
- Adjust carcass and doors
- Use MDF fillers
- Prefer accessories and sliding doors

Following these points will lead to a better overall result.
